Fergus O'Callaghan was one of many children of Meredith O'Callaghan to wander the cosmos. A gunslinger in his youth, he settled down to become the leading lawman of a small town on the planet Telrion, where he met and married his wife, Felli Lintair.

History[]

Fergus in his youth was a starry-eyed desperado, looking to make a name for himself to match the incredible pursuits of his father The Professor. He came to Telrion with the instinct that in the lawless wasteland, there was more than enough room for heroism and fortune-hunting.

As he fought and got more of a taste of killing, however, he abandoned his hopes of achieving the kind of fame and fortune his family was known for; too much blood, he came to realize, must be spilled to pay for it. Coming up against the excesses of the Telrionese mining industry (and realizing how little he on his own could do to keep his own independence), he began to search for allies and a cause to champion. He found them in the people of Geat's Bail.

Though it was pure chance that he was in the same caravan as his future wife, that he was the one to save her from an attack by McKeough's hired guns was not. Fergus knew the woman was a highborn elf - that means money and influence of the kind that Fergus desperately needed. That being said, he quickly grew to respect and admire her hard won independence, moral strength and cunning acumen. He fell in love with her as they traveled Telrion, guarding her as she searched for a place to lay down all the cash she had stolen from her family and start an actual business. Their partnership and affection would become the nucleus for their project, a free and independent haven for the most dispossessed workers of the planet.

Fergus knew that Geat's bail would be the site of this project from the moment he set foot in town. The people there were hardy enough to organize a resistance to the predation of the dwarven mining bosses, one which he could forge into a force to defend their freedom. But he also loved the town and its people, becoming a bit of a homebody after being a hero. Millie's saloon (and brothel) felt like a little piece of home that he had to cherish and defend from the wasteland that surrounded them. And, of course, Felli's mines needed sturdy, determined fighters to defend them, a task Fergus groomed the town for very carefully.

When his half-sister became a somewhat infamous member of the Knights Mercantile, Fergus leaped at the chance to bring a little more weight to bear behind his little rebellion against the mining magnates. The KM was a bit of a bogeyman for the children of Professor Hill, but that meant (in his mind) that they were powerful enough to intercede meaningfully on his behalf.
